Last year I breezed through a beach read trilogy set on a Caribbean island by a very popular author, which left me thinking, “EH, that was just not good.” I had that experience on my mind quite a bit while reading Katherine St. John’s sophomore novel, The Siren.

You see, The Siren is what I wanted those books to be. A juicy plot, with compelling characters, in an exotic locale, that’s well written. Three women (an actress, a producer and an assistant) arrive on a movie set with very different motives, and readers come to realize there’s a true villain in their midst.

If you’re headed to the beach, the pool, or even just your favorite chair by the AC unit this summer, listen up. The Siren is calling out to join you.
